Thank you for visiting our website!! The Steel Wheel Campground & Trading Post is a 12 acre facility that was completed in August of 2005. We are located on US Hwy 385 just 6 miles south of the historical town of Deadwood, SD. Planted in the heart of the Black Hills at approximately 5,300 ft., we are only but a short distance from several great land marks, such as the Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse monuments. Our campground offers many tent sites as well as a large variety of 50 amp full hookups for any size rig. While staying with us you can enjoy many opportunities to explore the surrounding area with several near by lakes, streams and hiking paths. There are also countless trails nearby for those individuals and families that are interested in discovering the Black Hills on either 4-wheelers or dirt bikes, which can be rented and delivered to your site. And, since we are located on Snowmobile trail # 7W, the Trading Post also makes for a make an excellent departure and destination point in the winter. The Steel Wheel Trading Post is also a Mobil filling station, allowing for a convenient place to stop and top off with quality gas or diesel. Our huge paved lot makes it easy to maneuver large Motor homes, vehicles and trailers with easy drive in and drive out access, eliminating the frequent hassles of parking. Also, be sure to go inside our store and check out the wonderful merchandise we have to offer. The Store carries a large variety of groceries along with many unique gift items.
